Around the Community

Community Involvement

At Duluth Veterinary Hospital, community isn’t just something we serve. It’s who we are. Since opening our doors in the 1940s, we’ve proudly stood as one of Duluth’s trusted locally owned veterinary practices. Even through ownership changes over the decades, one thing has never wavered: our commitment to the pets, families, and organizations that make the Northland such a special place to call home.

Unlike corporate-owned clinics, we remain independently owned and deeply rooted in Duluth, allowing us to focus on building lasting relationships with our neighbors. For us, veterinary care is not only about helping animals live longer, healthier lives, but also about strengthening the entire community.

Partnering with Rescue & Adoption Organizations

We believe every pet deserves a safe, loving home. That’s why we’re proud to partner with several local rescues and adoption groups, lending our time, expertise, and medical care to help animals in need. Our partners include:

Lake County Humane Society

Dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals across the region.

Wired Whisker Cat Café

Bringing adoptable cats and cat lovers together in a one-of-a-kind setting.

Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest (RAGOM)

Helping Golden Retrievers find their forever families.

Carlton County Animal Rescue

Serving homeless pets with compassion and care.

Pet Haven

One of Minnesota’s oldest foster-based rescue organizations.

Missing Pets in the Northland

One of Minnesota’s oldest foster-based rescue organizations.

By working together, we not only provide medical support, but also promote adoption events, raise awareness for rescue efforts, and help families find their perfect companions.

Giving Back Through Events & Traditions

Duluth Veterinary Hospital is more than a clinic. We’re neighbors, friends, and fellow community members. Each year, we participate in and support a wide range of local events and traditions that bring people together.

Celebrating Animals & Families

Walk for Animals
Raising awareness and funds to improve the lives of pets in need.

Seasonal & Holiday Celebrations

Bentleyville Tour of Lights
Joining the holiday spirit at one of Duluth’s most magical traditions.
Thanksgiving Buffet at St. Scholastica
Helping provide warmth, food, and fellowship for community members.

Supporting Youth & Agriculture

4H Programs
Encouraging the next generation of animal lovers and agricultural leaders through education and youth-focused events.

Whether it’s cheering on young 4H participants, helping fundraise for shelters, or sharing in holiday celebrations, we are grateful for every opportunity to connect with the people and pets who make Duluth vibrant.
